Pro Evolution Soccer 5 has long been regarded as the videogamers football game, with more emphasis on gameplay and challenge than its rival FIFA. Here on Thunderbolt we’ve been constantly excited at this time of year as the new version nears completion, and nevertheless many lunch breaks were filled, deadlines over-run, controllers broken and swear words invented as the entire team (minus our Editor Phil, currently plotting world domination in his secret base-come-uninhabited volcanic island in New Zealand) gathered around at every available opportunity to march England onto World Cup glory. With both Gerrard andLampard in the same side. New animations not only make the action look phenomenal in motion but actually help mould the gameplay, so shoot while off balance and you're likely to end up on your arse.
Its just like. Real football. The thrill of completing even the most rudimentary of 5-yard passes can't be expressed in words, so just imagine how it feels to round off a free-flowing counter attack with a 25-yard belterl Bear in mind that PES is more of a sim than ever before, so arcade thrill- seekers need not apply. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (known as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 9 in North America and Japan, sometimes mislabeled as World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 International) is a football video game developed and produced by Konami as part of the Pro Evolution Soccer series.

I can wholeheartedly recommend it to any gamers at all, mostly because I myself am not a sports game fan or an avid watcher or player of soccer (as one could surmise from this review). Even if you're not planning to take advantage of Winning Eleven 9's online play, the game represents a significant enough improvement over its predecessor that it's impossible for us not to recommend that you check it out. Is Winning Eleven 9 a better game than FIFA 06? It certainly plays a more realistic game of soccer than EA Sports' superb offering, but it also lacks many of that game's great features, such as official licenses across the board, the multiplayer lounge mode, and its innovative playing-style feature. You can't go too wrong with either game frankly, and if you've previously been dismissive of either series for no other reason than its name, now would be a great time to kick that habit. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is easily the best version of the series. Whilst many believed that Evo 4 was a step downwards, and with the steady progress made by FIFA in recent versions, Konami’s game reign as king looked to falter.
This edition has really redefined what Pro Evo is all about and the scores of devotees across the world have been greatly rewarded for shelling out once again. FIFA will have to wait yet again, but then again, it’s not like we’re running out of nationwide Man U fans are we?
